[Amelia was just running through the streets like crazy, looking around frantically... but she sees Haru standing there and slows down to walk over until she's standing next to him.
He is staring?? Ok. She will look out in the direction he's staring in and maybe also stare. Are we even looking at something?]
[ no, there's literally nothing there. he appears to be staring into the abyss.
though he suddenly startles when he realizes she's there, jumping slightly. and then she gets pushed by what appears to be the surface of a brief, large, iridescent bubble — aka, a barrier. ]
[ the bubble pops quickly, and leaves him feeling lightheaded; these powers are proving to be more of a pain than anything else. he rubs a temple, shaking his head quickly. ]
...No. I'm the one—sorry.
[ amelia's one of the nicer people here, he should be polite instead of having a breakdown or whatever. ]
[ he doesn't want to believe it either; everything looks untouched, and it's moving so quickly it's hard to accept.
but things are getting worse. if trust breaks down—how bad will it get? he clenches his fists. ]
...If we catch the killer tomorrow, others might be scared off trying. [ he says so quietly, but with a sort of forcefulness like he's trying to convince himself it's true. ] It doesn't have to escalate.
Well... there are a lot of good reasons to care about justice! It's all about doing the right thing... to be as a shield that defends the innocent, and as a sword that punishes the wicked! All so that the world can be a better place!
... Um, but if you mean, like, personally... probably because of my dad! It was his teachings that fostered a love of justice in my heart!

[The bubble startles her a little in turn, and she backs away.]
I'm sorry... did I startle you?

...No. I'm the one—sorry.

I was just... thinking.

[She can't really blame him for getting into his own head.]
... Was it about the message we just got?

[ and getting locked away at curfew, and other things. it's been eventful, and he's clearly not rested, even after the long night. ]
I didn't think things would start moving so quickly.

I really didn't want to think any of us would do such a thing... and at the first opportunity, no less.
I suppose this might make it harder for people to trust one another...

[She clenches a fist too! More passionately than tense.]
It's at times like this that we need Justice more than ever!
no subject
Hey... why is Justice so important to you?
[ not that he doesn't agree with her sentiment, but it clearly means a lot to her in a way that he's not considering. ]
no subject
[huh. that's... not a question she actually gets a lot.]

[ he's curious. 'justice' wouldn't be a priority for him here. even with a trial to take care of, it barely crosses his mind. ]

It must be hard to find justice in a place like this. [ ... ] Your dad sounds like a superhero or something.
[ it's impressive. ]

He taught me that justice can be found in any place where people still carry the light of hope in their hearts!

[ he says so sincerely, wistfully. ] I hope you're right. For tomorrow's sake.
