I guess it's not exactly unheard of where I'm from, either... You get the odd temple leader who gets a little overzealous about telling people what the "right" way to live is...
But in the end, it's not like the gods ever gave us instructions about that kind of stuff.
The good book says a certain chosen few could talk to Him, but that's what's in the scripture. Don't know anyone in the modern day that has that's also had concrete proof about it.
