Indeed. Each various method of spiritual art has its own focus of course but with great power comes boons and benefits to oneself, which, in my case includes immortality.
It is, perhaps, better considered longevity than true immortality. After all, ones body is still human. Teaching one to guard against injury, illness, and nature is very much possible.
